The CEMS (Chemical Engineering and Materials Science) women's group works to foster and support the women in the department on their path to becoming scientists and career women, as well as to increase communication among female-identifying students in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields and our communication with women currently working in industry, academia, government agencies, and national labs.
We accomplish this through a wide variety of activities.
- Professional development lunches
- Participation in science outreach activities
- Discussion of current media and literature about women in STEM
- Partnership with the CSE Women's Group to build a community of women across academic disciplines
All female-identifying graduate students and postdoctoral associates are invited to our activities. In addition, we co-sponsore professional development and social events with CEMS COGS and the Materials Research Society (MRS) Chapter at the university and encourage all CEMS graduate students and postdoctoral associates to attend.
